We’ve seen an increasing number of magazines having augmented reality (AR) covers, ads and features. But now here’s an entire issue of a magazine largely dedicated to showing off AR.
Issue 33 of German magazine Sueddeutsche Zeitung Magazin (SZ Magazine) has been AR enhanced in conjunction with the junaio browser from Metaio. iPhone and Android users with junaio will be able to access additional SZ magazine content via the SZ-Magazin and SZ-Magazin Lieblingsorte channels.
Dr. Dominik Wichmann of SZ magazine said:
The SZ Magazine always tries to extend journalistic frontiers. We don’t just write about new cultural or technical developments, we practise them. Instead of just reporting on Augmented Reality (AR), we have developed with the help of metaio a magazine issue which for the first time allows our readers to actually experience this new technology within a journalistic format.
Augmented content in the special issue includes the cover showing TV personality Sandra Maischberger, an “interview without words” with Lena Meyer-Landrut and virtual city guides.
