Disney World of Cars Online

Disney Online Studios has launched a new virtual gaming world for kids. World of Cars Online builds on the popular Disney*Pixar animated movie Cars. Players can create their own cars then meet others, interact, explore and race.

Lane Merrifield of Disney Online Studios said:

Our goal with World of Cars Online is to provide a creative and social environment where kids can have fun and use their imaginations in new ways. Our teams worked tirelessly to ensure World of Cars Online authentically represents the characters and storylines that kids and families have come to know and love from the movies, and we’re looking forward to hearing what ‘Cars’ fans think of it.

Since the game is aimed at children there are special parental features that allow control over a variety of community and chat settings. The basic game is free to play, however you’ll need to buy a Sponsored Race Car upgrade to access all the features.

The original Cars movie was released in 2006 and grossed over $462 million. Cars 2 is due for release in 2011 Disney/Pixar is also producing a series of animated Cars Toons.
