Virtual Model Homes from Focus 360

Using virtual reality to demonstrate high end products to potential buyers is an increasingly popular option. One application is the property market: a “virtual model home” can be a more affordable option than a real one.

However it’s still not cheap: for example Focus360, which specialises in such project visualisation, says that a high end virtual tour of a home can cost more than $10,000 to produce. As Steve Ormonde of Focus 360 says:

If you’re going to replace the tactile experience of walking through a real model home with a virtual home, it had better be astoundingly realistic or you might have the reverse effect and turn off your prospective homebuyer

Focus 360 has now introduced its “Value Line”, a relatively low cost solution to modelling of residential property tours in vr. Ormonde says:

The biggest obstacle to builders’ use of virtual model homes in the past has been the price tag associated with high quality tours. Our goal is to provide builders with a solution that is not only more affordable, but one that provides the high quality needed to engage home shoppers and present a builder’s product in the best possible light

The lines between the virtual and the bricks ‘n’ mortar worlds continue to get blurrier.
