Runes of Magic at 7-Eleven

The line between the real and the virtual worlds grows ever fuzzier. Now it’s been announced that virtual currency for the MMORPG Runes of Magic will be available in real world 7-Eleven stores.
Virtual currency specialists PlaySpan will make “Diamonds” for Frogster’s game available through their Ultimate Game Card. Players will be able to buy the cards in $10 and $25 increments at 7-Eleven stores across America.
Lars Koschin of Frogster America said:
With the number of locations to purchase pre-paid cards for our in-game currency, Diamonds, growing rapidly, we’re achieving our goal of making it easy to participate and take advantage of the paid enhancements Runes of Magic offers. 7-Eleven is core to our player demographic, and it’s now easy to pick up your Ultimate Game Card while grabbing your Big Gulp or Slurpee.
This is good news for Runes of Magic players, especially those without credit cards. However it might also reignite the debates about whether or not virtual currencies should be regulated in the same ways as “real” ones.
