Esquire Augments Magazine

Men’s magazine Esquire is following Popular Science into the realm of augmented reality (ar). Unlike PopSci, Esquire’s augmentation goes deeper than the cover.

As well as the augmented Robert Downey Jr on the magazine’s cover, the special edition contains ar markers throughout the magazine. AR enabled sections include fashion spreads, jokes and – of course – adverts. Some of the content is simply pre-recorded, some is interactive – for example changing the seasonal clothing worn by the fashion models.

Of course you need a webcam to activate the augmented reality. For those readers who don’t have one Esquire is running a sweepstake and giving away 50 Eyeball 1.0 webcams from Blue Microphones.
